Monument to 1300 Years of the Bulgarian Nation, Sofia.

Apparently the monument started falling apart almost immediately after it was finished in 1981. At this point, it’s a hazard to public safety, but neither the national nor city government will take the responsibility to tear it down. It’s also a landmark in Sofia, right in the middle of a very nice square downtown, an excellent place to relax in the sunshine and watch the skateboarders.
i really do hate this damn thing. and i always found the “people” to be scary looking- like commie gargoyles.
